Matthew Draper Moderates ABA Panel Discussion on Resolving Water Disputes

Matthew Draper moderated today an ABA panel discussion entitled "Dividing the Waters: Lessons Learned from Using Dispute Resolution Tools in Western Water Disputes and the Potential Application to the Eastern United States."

This program addressed the importance of dispute resolution tools in the resolution of western US water disputes. Alf Brandt, Executive Director of Dividing the Waters, discussed the Dividing the Waters Program, which has been used effectively in the western US to train judges to address water related conflicts.

Retired Justice Greg Hobbs of the Colorado Supreme Court offered lessons learned from Colorado. Lara Fowler, from Penn State, discussed the growing concerns of water allocation in the eastern US.

The panel was sponsored by the American Bar Association's Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, including its Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, Environmental Litigation and Toxic Torts Committee, and Water Resources Committee.
